Liferay User Group Ahmedabad October 2026: Meetup Recap

The Liferay community in Ahmedabad is growing, and our second Liferay India User Group (LIUG) – Ahmedabad meetup was another step forward in bringing the community closer.
Held on 17 October 2026, the meetup brought together developers, architects, technology leaders, and Liferay enthusiasts for a day of technical learning, knowledge sharing, and networking.
We received 120+ registrations, with 80+ professionals attending in person, even during Navratri, one of the most important festivals in Gujarat. The enthusiasm of the attendees showed the value of creating a space where professionals can learn, ask questions, share experiences, and connect with like-minded people.
Organized by IGNEK with support from Liferay and sponsorship from AIXTOR Technologies, the meetup continued our efforts to build a stronger and more connected Liferay ecosystem in Ahmedabad.
Event Preparation: Planning Every Detail
A successful event requires thoughtful planning, coordination, and teamwork behind the scenes.
From booking the banquet and arranging delicious lunch to preparing giveaways, coordinating speakers, managing registrations, and organizing the event schedule, our team worked together to make the experience smooth and enjoyable for everyone.
Every detail was planned to ensure attendees could focus on what mattered most: learning, connecting, and being part of the community.
A Special Shout-Out to the Amazing Women Behind LIUG Ahmedabad!
One of the proudest highlights of this meetup was that the entire event was planned, organized, and managed by a women's team.
A big thank you to Simran Dubey, Diksha Raturi, Mishrita Solanki, Aditi Valgotar, and Pushti Bhadja from the IGNEK team for taking ownership, managing responsibilities, coordinating everything, and putting in so much effort to make the event happen.
A special thanks to Anne Durey for being part of the team and supporting us from the Liferay side.
At IGNEK, we believe women's empowerment is about more than words. It means creating opportunities for women to lead, take responsibility, make decisions, and showcase their capabilities.
Seeing our women's team confidently handle the event was a proud moment. Their initiative, coordination, and teamwork made a real difference!

The Meetup: Learning, Sharing & Connecting
The day brought together experienced professionals from the Liferay ecosystem for insightful sessions and meaningful discussions.
We were delighted to welcome our speakers:
Each speaker contributed to the meetup by sharing knowledge, experiences, and perspectives with the community. The sessions encouraged learning, interaction, and conversations around the Liferay ecosystem.
Events like these create valuable opportunities for professionals to explore new ideas, learn from real-world experiences, and build connections beyond their everyday work.

Ask Me Anything with David Nebinger
One of the key highlights of the day was the in-person Ask Me Anything (AMA) session with David Nebinger.
Unlike a traditional presentation, the session had no slides and no fixed agenda. It was an open conversation driven by questions from the community, with David sharing his experience, insights, and perspectives.
This interactive format gave attendees the opportunity to ask questions, explore topics that mattered to them, and learn directly from an experienced member of the Liferay ecosystem.
Sometimes, the most valuable learning comes from open discussions rather than formal presentations. The AMA session captured exactly that spirit, making it a memorable part of the meetup.

Celebrating Garba Together
Since the meetup took place during Navratri, we wanted to add a small surprise to the day and share a little of Gujarat's festive spirit with our guests.
We arranged Garba outfits for our guests and brought everyone together for a fun celebration. The best part was seeing Ben Turner and David Nebinger join us on the dance floor!
We taught them a few Garba steps, and they turned out to be quick learners. It was wonderful to see everyone participate, enjoy the moment, and share a part of Gujarati culture together.
It was a fun way to wrap up a day filled with learning and networking, creating memories beyond the technical sessions.

Event Highlights

Community Effort
This event wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support, encouragement, and guidance of Sailendra Routray.
Their support played an important role in making this initiative successful, and we are grateful for their continued encouragement in strengthening the Liferay community.
A huge thank you to Liferay and Aixtor for their support, to all our speakers for sharing their knowledge and experience, and to every attendee who joined us. Your energy, engagement, and willingness to participate, connect, and contribute made the meetup truly special.
It is the combined effort of our supporters, speakers, attendees, and organizing team that makes community initiatives like LIUG Ahmedabad meaningful and successful.
What's Next? See You in April 2027!
With two LIUG Ahmedabad meetups successfully organized in 2026, we are excited to continue building momentum and creating more opportunities for the community.
Our goal is to keep bringing Liferay professionals together through regular meetups, technical sessions, open discussions, and networking opportunities.
We look forward to welcoming everyone back for our next LIUG Ahmedabad meetup in April 2027.
Until then, let's continue sharing knowledge, supporting one another, and growing together as a community.
See you at the next LIUG Ahmedabad meetup!
